Latin singer Gabriel Diniz has died at the age of 28.
According to multiple outlets, the pop star passed away on Monday (May 27) after his plane crashed in the town of Porto do Mato, Estância, on the southern coast of Sergipe, Brazil. "It is with great pain that we can confirm the death of Gabriel Diniz and the plane’s crew," the late singer's management team told Us Weekly.
The singer was reportedly en route to his girlfriend Karoline Calheiros' birthday party in Maceió.
Soccer player Roberto Firmino took to Instagram to remember his late friend following the news. "There are things that are hard to believe, the chip does not fall," he captioned a video of Gabriel performing. "The message of love and joy that you left here on earth was incredible. Glad to have met you. Rest in peace."
Gabriel had just performed in Feira de Santana, located northwest of Salvador on Sunday (May 26). He shared photos of his performance to Instagram. "Always a joy to return to Feira de Santana and be greeted with such joy and with so much positive energy thank you for the kindness guys," read the caption to one of his posts, which was translated to English.
Rest in Peace, Gabriel.
